The Zenergy :: Simple :: Reliable :: Inexpensive :: Proven :: Available

The Zenergy is installed in front of a lighting panel or distribution board (DB), and the power routed through it to the board.

OPERATION

The power lines of the three phases enter through three input terminals, the current passes through the winding of the auto-transformer and passes to three output terminals which are connected to the lighting circuit under control.

There are no moving contacts in this main line through the equipment, and, therefore, unless the main cables are physically severed the lighting circuit cannot be disconnected from the power line. This situation is, of course, the same before the Zenergy® system is installed.

All power control is effected by changing the output of the transformer by ratio changing. This is achieved through three interlocked contactors which provides very high reliability. The method has been successfully employed in hundreds of locations, for over fifteen years,  without a single recorded failure.

ELECTRONICS

The use of  electronics is not employed in  switching the power. This is due to the highly inductive nature of the load making very large electronic switches necessary. These are not only extremely expensive, but if they fail they tend to do so in the “on” condition (providing a short circuit); this would blow the breakers for the lighting circuit, plunging the customer into darkness.

The mechanical switching system is electronically controlled and continuously monitors the load current and voltage to ensure satisfactory operation of the system.  Zenergy® will compensate for low incoming voltage supply or changes in the load at any time. This is achieved by the use of two timing circuits together with an adjustable pulse trigger. The system automatically compensates for the continual power factor changes, endemic in most commercial premises, to ensure optimum switching. The unit will also automatically switch into by-pass if an overload or fault occurs. In the case of an overload the unit will re-instate automatically when the overload is reduced, in the case of a fault full power is maintained to the lights.

The Zenergy® system is so reliable that the M.T.B.F. (Minimum time  between failures) estimated by using data from the component manufacturers, is 250,000 hours (over 28 years). Customer comfort is ensured by a comprehensive year Extendable Parts and Labour guarantee.
